About a year and a half ago, the company I was working at, LUMO Interactive, was contracted by Amazon to create a couple of games to be used in their “Treasure Truck” campaigns. Each of the games was intended to be displayed on touchscreens set up alongside the eponymous Treasure Truck, giving players a chance to win “treasures,” or prizes, for winning.
My main job in this project was asset-creation. One of the games -colloquially known as “cornhole”- required a series of random, comical objects to be thrown in place of the more traditional beanbags. So, that’s what I made.
Each of the throw-ables was modeled in Blender and -when necessary- textured in Substance Painter. The simpler object were colored with simple solid-color materials in Unity, as Amazon wanted a bright, cartoon-y style.
About half of the objects were also rigged in Blender, as the original plan was to make the appropriate objects into floppy ragdolls. Due to limitations of the game’s design and a tight deadline, though, the ragdoll physics were scrapped.
These are just a few of the objects I designed for the game;
