Sometimes plain old text isn’t enough to describe your project. 2-Dimensional text has a hard time conveying the kind of dynamic motion and energy some games have. Luckily, we have more than 2 dimensions to work with. More specifically, we have 3. 3D, that is.

These are a couple title cards I modeled and rendered for smaller game projects a while back. Both of them were modeled and UV’d in Blender, then exported to Substance Painter for the texturing and rendering, before being brought into Unity as PNG images.

In truth, I easily could have brought the meshes directly from Blender to Unity, but that would have left me at the mercy of Unity’s URP renderer, which -while more than enough for most run-time rendering- didn’t quite have the right pop for a title screen. After all, the point of a 3D title is to grab attention. No sense going halfway, right?
